OPENING CONCERT: THE BIG SWING NIGHT DIRECTED BY JIŘÍ VEJDĚLEK
Original Vintage Orchestra is a professional music big band founded by Petr Kroutil and one of the greatest swing bands in the Czech Republic. They perform the 1920s & 1930s swing as well as original and energetic adaptations of famous modern songs in the period style.
Petr Kroutil produces a magnificent music show called The Big Swing Night directed by Jiří Vejdělek. The concert will host an exclusive guest, the Los Angeles´ star Chuck Wansley.
Petr Kroutil is one of the most distinctive and charismatic jazzmen in our country. He studied saxophone and clarinet at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory. He studied Jazz Composition and Performance at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston.
He has received a number of Czech and foreign musical awards (e.g. the B.e.s.t. Award of Berkelee College).
Since the age of 18, he played alongside Ondřej Havelka and at the age of 22, he co-founded the Prague Swing Orchestra, while being its soloist for seven years. He was the only Czech to play at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London.
He has been playing with his pop jazz ensemble Petr Kroutil Orchestra for six years already. In 2016, he founded an ambitious big band based on the 1920s & 1930s jazz music named Original Vintage Orchestra. He acts as its bandmaster, soloist, singer and arranger.
